Lifestyle Medicine as a Pathway to Menopausal Wellbeing

This year’s World Menopause Day theme, Lifestyle Medicine, couldn’t resonate more deeply with me.

As a holistic health and wellness coach and through the lens of a trauma-informed practitioner, I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound impact that lifestyle choices and nervous system awareness have on our menopausal experience.

For too long, menopause has been framed as something to “get through” or “fix.” We’re often told to push harder, suppress symptoms, or ignore what our bodies are trying to tell us. But the truth is, healing and thriving come when we pause, listen and respond with compassion.

Menopause is not just a hormonal transition, it’s a whole-body experience that deeply involves our nervous system.  When we live in a state of constant stress or dysregulation, our body’s ability to balance hormones, repair and rest is compromised. Understanding this connection allows us to move from surviving to self-regulating, from burnout to balance.

So what does Lifestyle Medicine really mean?

Lifestyle Medicine is not a trend or a buzzword. It’s a science-backed approach that focuses on how we nourish ourselves across all areas of life; how we move, eat, sleep, think, connect and manage stress. It invites us to look at the whole picture, because there isn’t a one size fits all solution.

What supports one woman through menopause may not work for another, that’s why self-awareness and inner work are essential parts of the journey. In both my private practice and organisational work, I use Lifestyle Medicine principles to help women and workplaces reconnect with what truly supports long-term health.

This approach isn’t about a miracle cure or quick fix, it’s about intentional living.  Through tailored guidance and trauma-informed coaching, I help individuals:

·      Rebuild confidence and reconnect with their intuition

·      Reignite their spark and sense of self

·      Simplify the noise around menopause and wellbeing

·      Learn to support their hormones and overall health in ways that feel authentic and sustainable

When we understand the signals our bodies send us and respond with care rather than criticism, we unlock the potential to thrive through menopause and beyond.

This World Menopause, I encourage you to reflect on your own lifestyle habits, your relationship with your body and how you or your organisation support menopause awareness.

If you’re ready to take the next step, whether that’s through personal coaching, team training, or developing a menopause informed wellbeing strategy, then get in touch.

My objective is to help shift the narrative, that menopause isn’t something to just get through, but something to embrace with understanding, compassion, and strength. Through self-awareness and self-advocacy, we unlock the power to influence not only our own health and happiness but also the culture and conversations around us, at home, at work and beyond.

“Wellness is the complete integration of body, mind, and spirit, the realisation that everything we do, think, feel and believe has an effect on our state of wellbeing” – Greg Anderson
